The operator and its route
Neue Pellwormer Dampfschiffahrts GmbH, or NPDG for short, is the smallest operator in the North Frisian Wadden Sea and the most important one for Pellworm: it runs the only connection that links the island to the mainland all year round and with vehicles.
The route
From Nordstrand, more precisely from the Strucklahnungshörn pier on the western edge of the peninsula, to Pellworm. A 35-minute crossing, fixed departure times, every day of the year. In peak season up to six sailings each way are scheduled, three to five in the winter half of the year.
Because Nordstrand is linked to the mainland by a causeway, you can drive right up to the pier. For Pellworm, this chain of causeway and short crossing is the standard route, not the exception.
The ship
The MS Pellworm I is in service, a car ferry that has run the route since 1997. It carries vehicles, bicycles and freight. If you're crossing with a car, register the outward and return trip with the operator beforehand - the vehicle deck has limited space, and some sailings are full in peak season.
Where the NPDG fits in
Three operators share North Frisia, each with a clearly separate role. The Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei runs from Dagebüll to Föhr and Amrum, and supplies the Halligen from Schlüttsiel. Adler-Schiffe connects the islands with each other in the summer half of the year. And the NPDG keeps Pellworm connected, even in January.

Yes. The MS Pellworm I is a car ferry - alongside the W.D.R. ships from Dagebüll, it's the only way in the North Frisian Wadden Sea to get a vehicle onto an island. Register your crossing with a vehicle with the operator in advance, especially in peak season.
Is the NPDG part of Adler-Schiffe? +
No. Neue Pellwormer Dampfschiffahrts GmbH is an independent company with a single route. Adler-Schiffe calls at Pellworm during the summer half of the year on its Wadden Sea line, which is a separate connection with a separate ticket.
