About us

faehre-nordfriesland.de is an information site about the ferry connections of the North Frisian Wadden Sea. The subject is the crossing itself: which port serves which island, how long the sailing takes, how often it runs - and above all, during which part of the year it runs at all. The site is aimed at travellers heading for Föhr, Amrum, Pellworm or the halligen Hooge and Langeneß, and at island guests travelling onward from there.

We answer two questions. The first: which connection fits my day? For that, every route is listed side by side with its port, crossing time and frequency. The second is the decisive one in this region: does anything sail on my date at all? Of the 56 routes only 14 run year-round - which is why we state the operating period at every connection.

Until August 2026 Amrum, Föhr and Dagebüll each had their own domain. We brought them together here because North Frisia does not work like a set of separate spur routes: the islands are connected to one another, and „Amrum to Hooge“ had no place on an Amrum domain.

What this site is not

faehre-nordfriesland.de is an independent guide to the crossing, not an official booking or operator site. The ferries are run by the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei, Adler-Schiffe and the Neue Pellwormer Dampfschiffahrt. Nor are we an island travel guide: sights, hotels, restaurants, flights and car hire are deliberately left out.

Two subjects sit deliberately outside: the car ferry from Rømø to List and the comparison with the car-carrying train belong to Sylt, and of Sylt only the Wadden Sea port of Hörnum has a place here. The Heligoland feeder services from the mainland at Cuxhaven, Hamburg and Brunsbüttel belong to the Heligoland approach and are therefore not on these pages.

How current the timetables are

Crossing times, departures per operating day and timetable periods come from the operators' published schedule data and are updated continuously. Fares and conditions of carriage are set by the operators themselves - the booking step is the binding source for those.
