Ferries to Amrum
In the summer half-year Amrum is the hub of the North Frisian Wadden Sea. Seven ports then appear in its timetable - more than for any other island in the region. In winter what remains is the year-round route via Dagebüll and Föhr.
From Dagebüll: the year-round route
The Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei sails from Dagebüll via Wyk on Föhr to Wittdün. The crossing takes about two hours, up to six times a day, all year. The published timetable reaches to 12 December 2026.
From late March to early November, Adler-Schiffe sails the same connection direct with the MS Adler Rüm Hart - 70 minutes instead of two hours, but only once a day.
To Föhr
The shortest connection: one hour with the W.D.R., year-round, four departures a day. Adler-Schiffe manages the route in 30 to 35 minutes during the summer half-year.
Island-hopping with the MS Adler-Express
From late March to early November the MS Adler-Express calls at Amrum on its Wadden Sea line. Reachable directly:
- Hooge in 20 to 30 minutes - the shortest leg in the whole network
- Hörnum on Sylt in 45 to 50 minutes
- Pellworm in 75 minutes, usually once a day
- Nordstrand in a good hour and a half
Two departures a day are the norm on most of these routes.
To Heligoland
The MS Adler CAT sails from Wittdün direct to Heligoland - 85 minutes, once a day, in 2026 until 21 October. Together with Hörnum, Amrum is thus one of only two North Frisian ports with a genuine direct link to the offshore island; from everywhere else the journey involves a change.
