In the North Frisian Wadden Sea the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei, Adler-Schiffe and the Neue Pellwormer Dampfschiffahrt operate side by side, on some routes two at once. There is no joint tariff.

There is no joint tariff for crossings in the North Frisian Wadden Sea. Three operators share the region, and on the routes from Dagebüll two of them sail the same connection, with very different timetables and very different crossing times.
What determines the price
Three things: the route, the operator and the ticket type. Because the operators share the region and even sail side by side on the routes from Dagebüll, it pays to look at both offers - they differ far more in crossing time and frequency than in substance.
The three networks
The W.D.R. runs the year-round network. Föhr and Amrum from Dagebüll, plus the route between the two islands and the hallig line from Schlüttsiel to Hooge and Langeneß. From Dagebüll frequency is high - up to twelve departures a day to Wyk - and the timetable carries through the winter.
Adler-Schiffe runs the summer network. The MS Adler-Express line between Hörnum, Amrum, Hooge, Nordstrand and Pellworm, the Heligoland sailings of the MS Adler CAT, and the fast extra services from Dagebüll. This is also where connections involving a change of vessel are sold as a single through-ticket.
The Neue Pellwormer Dampfschiffahrt runs a single route. Nordstrand to Pellworm, year-round, with vehicles. Its tariff stands alongside the other two and has nothing to do with them.
Where both sail, crossing time is the difference. To Föhr: 50 minutes with the W.D.R., around 25 with Adler-Schiffe. To Amrum: about two hours via Wyk against 70 minutes direct. In return the W.D.R. sails far more often, and all year.

Common questions about fares
Why is there no price table on this page? +
Because tariffs change with the season and differ sharply by ticket type, age and vehicle. A table here would be out of date quickly.
Is there a joint ticket for several islands? +
For summer island-hopping Adler-Schiffe sells through-tickets, including across a change of vessel - from Föhr to Heligoland, for example. Between the two operators, however, there is no joint ticket.
Is the faster connection worth it? +
On the routes from Dagebüll both operators sail. In summer Adler-Schiffe takes roughly half the time, but runs only once or twice a day, while the W.D.R. offers up to twelve departures. So the question is less about price than about which departure time fits your day.
What does taking a vehicle cost? +
It depends which vessel serves your route. Vehicles are carried by the ferries from Dagebüll and by the car ferry from Nordstrand to Pellworm; the Adler-Schiffe Wadden Sea lines are excursion and catamaran services. Clarify carriage and surcharge directly with the operator, ideally before booking.
