Ferries from Hörnum
Hörnum sits at the southern tip of Sylt and is the island's Wadden Sea port. From late March to early November six destinations appear in its timetable - in the winter half-year, none.
One point of orientation: at Hörnum you sail away from Sylt. If you want to bring a vehicle to Sylt, you take the car ferry from Rømø to List or the car-carrying train; both are covered on faehre-sylt.de.
To Amrum: the fastest connection
Forty-five to 50 minutes, two to three departures per operating day - depending on the day with the MS Adler CAT or the MS Adler-Express. It is the busiest route from Hörnum.
To the halligen and Pellworm
The MS Adler-Express continues to Hooge in 70 to 82 minutes, to Pellworm in a good two hours and to Nordstrand in about two and a half hours. To Hooge two departures per operating day are the norm, to Pellworm usually one.
To Heligoland
The MS Adler CAT sails direct - about two and a half hours, once a day, in 2026 until 21 October.
To Föhr and Dagebüll: with a change
Adler-Schiffe sells both as a through-ticket, but the journey involves a change of vessel: to Föhr in an hour and a half, to Dagebüll in just under two. If you need to reach the mainland year-round, take the route via List and Rømø or the car-carrying train instead.
The seasonal caveat
Hörnum is the port in the region hit hardest by the season: six destinations in summer, none in winter. Before planning, check the timetable to see whether any departure exists for your date at all.
